"Grow your solo" and learn how to apply modes to rock and contemporary blues styles and take your playing to another level!

This course requires some previous guitar performance experience. Acoustic or electric guitars are welcome. Don't forget a notebook and pencil. Graduates of this class get the chance to shine on Center Stage and solo over the house band in front of friends and family!

Christian Rock Band Camp

Christian Rock Band Camp
Instructor: Dave Internicola

Worship band camp is for individuals and / or Church teams who wish to learn the ins and outs of both contemporary and traditional Christian worship music in a group setting. Our students will not only learn about the dynamics of group playing, but also basic music theory, improvisation, how to push their own personal musicianship to the next level and, of course, insights into the true heart of what "Worship" is about. Just about all instruments are welcome, whether acoustic or electric, traditional or contemporary, and anyone ages 10 and up who meets the minimum requirements can participate.

*Repertoire:*

Although our main focus will be on contemporary praise and worship music, we will also explore traditional hymns and CCM (contemporary Christian music), as well as studying artists (like Chris Tomlin for example) who blend all three, and what situations this is appropriate for.

Churches sending entire teams to us should feel free to request particular songs, styles and artists that represent the worship environment of their services.

*The Training:*

Our students will learn how to follow / give worship leader's hand signals, and how to use other body language (like head nods) to communicate withtheir fellow band mates while performing. They will also learn about proper playing volumes / how to control volume, tuning and the tricks for properly using equipment like amps, mics and PA systems. This 8 week course is celebrated with a live performance at Center Stage in front of friends and family!

Short Fiction Writing Workshop

Short Fiction Writing Workshop
Instructor: Tamara Habershaw

Everyone has a story inside of them! Performing Arts encourages you to put it on paper! For 8 weeks and 90 minutes per session you get to do just that by a seasoned author. Each participant will write short stories (5-20 pages in length)and bring them to class to be read and critiqued by the other members of the workshop. The class time will be spent in conversation about the stories: What is working in the story? What could be improved upon? Authors will receive feedback, suggestions, and constructive criticism that will aid them in revising their work.

The workshop will come to a close with a public reading during which authors will have the opportunity to read something they’ve written during the workshop. Authors are encouraged to invite family and friends to attend the reading. Workshop members will need to print enough copies of their stories to share with other class members. Participants will also read the other class members' stories outside of class so that they will be able to partake in constructive discussion.
